City of Heroes Myrmidon (Phthian)
I got surprisingly close to a "proper" Myrmidon in City of Heroes, although the name itself was taken on every server and I had to find an alternative (the legendary Myrmidons were from Phthia, hence Phthian).

CC Gallery tweaks
I've shifted the "Classic" Crucible gallery into its own page, clearing up the main page for CC2 stuff. And just because the game doesn't open for another month doesn't mean I can't draw your character now! ;)

Update: main page now has Clank design sketch.

I figured I'd toss up here what I'd worked out so far, get crits on any rules I may have missed and maybe ask a question or two. I want to get the powers nailed down before I spend on everything else, so I don't have to go back and undo everything to find the points to fix powers. ;)

Crucible City closing, reopening with new setting and 2nd Edition.

Title:  All Good Things...
Greetings Crucibillies,

        As you may have noticed, staff have not been around and active very much in the past few months. Well..truth be told..we're fried. Extra crispy staffers all around. Group burnout of the worste sort. We waited and waited for it to abate, as it always has before, but it just hasn't.
        But, in talking, we discovered a common feeling that we possessed. We weren't burnt out on MUSHing..we were burnt out on Crucible. Let's face it, the original players and Staff, who count among our ranks myself, Magik, Forge, and Miracleman, have been playing this one game for FOUR YEARS. Crucible has had a great run, but we just cannot muster the enthusiasm we once felt for the game. We've gone to this well once too often.
        It is with heavy heart that I must announce that Crucible City will be ending on June 15, 2007. After that time, the stories of your heroes will live on only in legend.


        It gives me great pleasure to announce that on June 15, 2007, a new chapter in the Crucible Age of Comics shall begin!
        -All New Setting!
        -All New Characters!
        -All New AWESOME!

        Utilizing Mutants And Masterminds Second Edition, the staff that brought you the original Crucible City brings you C2: The Crucible Element! Where CCM explored the role of a new generation of heroes in a world long used to such displays of power, C2 features your characters as the first generation of heroes in a near-future world where such things were previously the stuff of myth and legend. Will this world become one in which a new golden age of heroism flourishes? Or will it fall to the forces of chaos and evil? Your characters will decide. Watch this board for more details as the date approaches.

        So, there is one month remaining. Tell your tales, find what closure your characters may need, and get your new character ideas rolling for the next step in Crucible Evolution.

Plot seed idea
Just read in The Week about a growing problem in African nations with lax environmental laws: they're being paid to act as dumping grounds for discarded computers and other electronic devices.

What if these piles of rotting circuitry were to form an emergent consciousness? Especially if some unrecognized supervillain-enhanced equipment was part of the mix?

Too long yet too short
Well, while I played on Crucible City when it opened (I was Audrey), I didn't reset to the new chargen. M&M was a difficult system for me, and to some degree, the MU* actually cemented my love of Hero System/Champions. I had good times, but there wasn't much for Audrey to do. 28 Days is very short for an idlenuke, but so be it. Take care, to anyone who still reads this and ever played with me, and to the folks who played in the scenes I ran. :)

Book Released
The first, but hopefully not the last, RPG sourcebook using Crucible City material has officially released. "Escape from Alcatraz!" sells for $7.99 at RPGNow.

Ten Little Indians!
In case you have not visited the game lately, Crucible's second Global Plot just kicked off. Count Urizen and his allies, the Tyrannical Ten, supported by an army of techno-magical robots and as many of the world's villains who answer the call are rising up, reclaiming Ultima Thule and getting revenge for a lifetime of getting pushed around.

Full details on the game, of course. Oracle has made up an adversary file so you can throw down villains and robots for yourselves and run scenes all over the game. Staff are already recruiting for specific scenes, like the British evacuation of UN troops from Ultima Thule.

Very exciting. Get yourselves down to CC and get involved!

New Power: Split!
Last night, I repainted an action figure as an update of the 1960s ripoff Captain Marvel, the guy who could split apart and have his body parts fly around and do stuff. That got me thinking of how to do such a power. Duplicate + Shrinking came close, but not quite. So I decided to devise a custom power based on Duplicate + Shrinking, and put it behind this handy lj cut.

More CC Art
The second .pdf of CC-related game material is slated for May. It's called The Quick and the Dead, and it will include both heroes and villains for any campaign setting. The art for this book is starting to come in, and Warren Belfield happens to like zombies, so he started with the Deep Six. For those new to the MUX, the Six are the first villain team we had.
